A Risk Assessment Checklist
In any threat of inclement weather or hazardous river conditions, please review the status of the following before taking boats onto the river.
- ENVIRONMENT AGENCY BOARDS.
- OURCS FLAGS? (see image)
- ISIS LEVEL WEBSITE AND WATER FLOW?
- AIR AND WATER TEMPERATURE?
- WEATHER: FORECAST, WIND SPEED AND DIRECTION, RAIN, THUNDER AND LIGHTNING, FOG?
- ROWING IN COLD CONDITIONS?
- ICE?
Dynamic risk assesment to be undertaken by two organisers or poppieri:
- Consider the previously-outlined factors.
- Consider the ability, skill and strength of the poppiere and crew members
- If there is any doubt in 1. and 2., the outing should be cancelled.
